New York United Lion and Dragon
Dance Troupe
is based in the heart of New York’s Chinatown. Formed in
2000 with only five members, NYULDDT has grown to a
roster of over thirty committed members today, with
twenty-seven colorful lions and four dragons. The troupe
has impressed many audiences with their energetic and
expressive performances, topped with incredible stunts
on competition-style poles or “jongs,”
including the 13 ft. pole and traditional freestyle
tables, chairs and vases. Led by Mr. Ricky Mun, who
trained among the world championship Kun Seng Keng team
of Malaysia, NYULDDT maintains a very active performance
schedule throughout New York City, Boston and beyond.
The group performs weekly in the summertime for
ExploreChinatown.com’s “Arts Night in Chinatown” and has
appeared on major TV networks including WB11 and FOX5.
The team has also served as guest instructors for the
Princeton University Lion Dance Team. |
