about us

Metro Chinese Broadcasting

Established in 1968, we are the first Chinese Language radio station in the New York City Metro Area. Our radio station sends broadcast signals to the top of the Empire State Building which in turn broadcasts to a coverage area of 50 miles radius. This includes the five boroughs of New York City, upstate New York, Long Island and parts of New Jersey and Connecticut.

For our technology savy listeners, our programing is continuously streamed on this site 24 hours a day 7 days a week and available anywhere online.

Serving this Chinese speaking community for over 40 years, our mission is more than just providing entertainment and news to our listener. Since Inception, we have played a role as the bridge between the community and the mainstream society. This position has been important especially for those newly arrived immigrants from Southeast Asia who do not understand the English language.

Among our programs, we have English lessons, hotline programs for social services and medicines and government programs. Representatives from the Social Services Administration, Medicare, Medicaid, and even members from the City Council and the State Senate are regular guests among programs. These community leaders and guests are able to serve our listeners by answering the concerns and issues directly with the help of our multilingual program hosts as translators.

In addition, we ensure assistance and support to our community organizations in their fundraising campaigns which enforces our mission as not just a radio station but an important component of New York area’s growing Chinese community.
